Back to the garden pt. 2

Again, Let’s look at the verse “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden.” the last three subjects in the sentence can be translated as follows.

Garden – can be translated “Bride”. Eastward – can be translated as “Ancient of days’. And Eden contains within itself “To behold, know, experience the door to life”.

So, this verse broken down says: “And the Lord God “Established a Bride in the Ancient of days (Himself) to behold, know, and experience the door to life!” And there He placed the man. If we consider this, the reason for Adams deep sleep becomes clear. Gen 2:21 – And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; Gen 2:22 – And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Gen 2:23 – And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Gen 2:24 – Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Gen 2:25 – And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Adam and Eve were already one flesh, but she had to come from him, to know him, and he her (learn Love) as his bride.

Out of Christ’s side After the “sleep” on the cross, came water and blood. We are born of the water and blood, to know Him, and learn LOVE. “GOD is LOVE”. We need to learn (forgive me) to be naked with Him, and not ashamed. We came from Him, to be joined to Him. Not as mindless robots, just obeying. But in LOVE, giving ourselves. We were in Him in Love at the beginning, we need to be at a point of loving Him, because He first loved us.

One of the examples of God wooing us can be seen in the Exodus. (I think this goes with what was said in the last post. Israel being the bride, Hosea…) God calls Israel as a whole, out of the house they were in. Out into the wilderness, to meet him. They crossed the Red Sea, once on the other side, He said to mikvah themselves (cleanse themselves) and meet Him at the base of the mountain. Once there, the mountain covered them. Moses goes up into the mountain to talk to God, as the representative for the people as a whole.

Understand, in a Jewish wedding there is a ritual bath, then a meeting at the chuppah (tent of meeting, covering) then the exchange of vows. (The following is courtesy of Ray Vander laan) If we look at the 10 commandments in a different light, they sound something like this:

I am your husband, you will have no other but me, You will not carry around with you in any manner anything that reminds you of what you wanted or where you were, anymore. I want to have a date night once a week, for just you and I. It is very important and special! I will call it the Sabbath. Children honor your mother and father, for in this, you display godliness. The rest of these are because you are one body, learn to live with each other. Don’t steal. Don’t lie, Don’t bear false witness. Don’t want what isn’t yours.

…. The problem is, they were already committing adultery at the place where the vows were to be exchanged (see book of Hosea) Moving on. Later comes Jesus. Other things in a Jewish wedding are as follows. The groom approaches the bride to be, and presents his cup. If she drinks from it, she accepts his proposal. He gives her ornamental slippers for her feet. She learns how to adorn herself with jewelry (praise of God) He goes off to prepare a house for them, that where he is she can be. But, to make sure it’s not a couple boards nailed together, The father must inspect the house. The son cannot go get his bride until the father says the house is ready. So, no man knows the day or hour, but the father only. Any of this sound familiar?

It also explains the statement in the garden: “Father, let this cup pass from me, but nonetheless, not my will, but thine be done.” Also, if you notice, The Lord says: “I am the LORD, declaring the ending from the beginning.” It starts with a wedding between Adam and Eve, Revelation ends with a wedding invitation. Rev 22:17 – And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

I will leave it here for now, but there is more to follow. hope you enjoy.
